Publishing Ethics

Publication Ethics

FMRJ upholds strict publication ethics to safeguard the integrity of scholarly communication. Authors are expected to adhere to ethical standards in the preparation and submission of manuscripts.

Plagiarism

FMRJ considers plagiarism a serious academic offense. Each manuscript is subjected to similarity screening using advanced plagiarism detection software. Plagiarism checking is the first step of the review process. Manuscripts with unacceptable similarity levels, including overlap with the authors’ own previously published work are immediately rejected.

Citation Manipulation

Authors must cite only relevant, appropriate sources. Irrelevant citations or excessive self-citations intended to inflate citation counts are unacceptable.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

FMRJ recognizes that AI tools (e.g., for grammar checks, language editing, or data analysis) may support research and writing. However:

  • Authors must declare any use of AI tools in the Acknowledgements section, describing their specific role.
  • AI tools must not be listed as authors.
  • AI must not be used to generate ideas, data, analyses, or literature reviews without full disclosure.
  • Authors remain fully accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of AI-assisted content.
  • Manuscripts suspected of undisclosed AI-generated content may be rejected during screening or peer review.
